Fifth Consolidated Named a Reward School

Congratulations to the staff and students at Fifth Consolidated Elementary School for being named a Reward School for the 2017-2018 school year.

We are extremely excited to announce that Fifth Consolidated Elementary School has been named a 2018 Tennessee Reward School! This is their fourth time to receive this honor.

Reward status is the top distinction a school can earn in Tennessee. Reward schools are those that are improving overall student academic achievement and student growth for both all students and for student groups. There are four indicators for K-8 schools: Achievement, Growth, Chronically Out of School (Absenteeism), and English Language Proficiency.

Descriptions of each indicator of the accountability system are as follows: • The Achievement and Growth indicators reflect what proportion of students meet content standards and whether students are making expected academic growth.
 • The Chronically Out of School indicator measures the proportion of students missing 10 percent or more of the school year.
 • The English Language Proficiency indicator evaluates how students with limited English proficiency are improving their language fluency.

“In this first year with our new system, it is incredibly encouraging to see more than 300 of our schools are earning Reward status for how they are supporting our students’ academic achievement and growth,” Tennessee Commissioner of Education Dr. Candice McQueen.

Fifth Consolidated Elementary's has been named a Tennessee Reward School for the following years: • 2011-12 - Progress • 2014-15 - Performance  • 2016-17 - Performance • 2017-18 - Academic Achievement and Student Growth
