Congratulations to Three Oaks Middle School's Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Beth Terry.  Beth is a 6th grade English Language Arts teacher at Three Oaks Middle School.  She lives in Newbern with her husband, Andy, and their three children Spencer, Reece, and Amy Caroline.  Beth is a graduate of Dyersburg High School.  She also holds degrees from Dyersburg State Community College, The University of Tennessee at Martin, and Arkansas State University.  Beth has taught for 14 years.  She started her career in the elementary setting at East Elementary in Dillon, SC.  Not only did she teach K-2nd grade, Beth was a state certified teacher mentor, teacher trainer, teacher evaluator and certified Beginning Administrator.  She has also been a cooperating teacher for many student teachers over the years.  Currently, Beth is on the Three Oaks Middle School Leadership Team, West Tennessee Teachers Study Council, Three Oaks Middle School Data Team, Coach of the Academic Quiz Bowl Team and RTI2-B/PBIS Team.  Beth has also served on the Dyer County Schools Curriculum Committee and the Superintendents Advisory Board.  In addition to her career accomplishments, Beth also serves with her husband, Andy as Pastors of Hutcheson Chapel Church of God in Halls, Tn.  She and her family are active in their church and community, as well as, abroad in missions. When asked why she does what she does Beth replied, “It’s what I have been called to do.  Teaching is a ministry opportunity. No child is the same.  You have to build relationships with children and gain their trust. Once you do that, the sky’s the limit.  They genuinely want someone to love and value them for who they are right now. Sometimes that’s not pretty. I try to meet their needs right where they are. The rest usually falls right into place.  God is faithful because I give every high and every low to Him.  He honors my work and blesses me more than I deserve. I am truly blessed to be able to work at Three Oaks Middle School.”
