DCHS IS EXCITED ABOUT ADDING STEM TO OUR CURRICULUM!
Students involved in STEM projects will have access to the DCHS state-of-the-art digital fabrication laboratory.
A fabrication lab (fab lab) is a small-scale workshop offering (personal) digital fabrication. It is typically equipped with an array of flexible computer-controlled tools that cover several different length scales and various materials, with the aim to make almost anything. The digital fabrication will be an important component in using technology to foster the inquisitive nature of students and to develop skills in collaboration, critical thinking, and innovation. The tools used in the fab lab will allow students to create products of professional quality.
The STEM curriculum will present students with opportunities to discover novel solutions to problems of personal interest. In the process, they will not only develop a deeper understanding of content that is anchored to contextually relevant problem solving, but will also refine process skills that empower them to effectively manage their projects. We believe this approach to learning will provide students with more meaningful and transferable learning experiences.
