Daily Announcements February 21, 2019 Congratulations to the February Students of the Month: Kassidy Irvine, Madison Lowe, Cody Frazier, Ally Caviness, Caty Kirk, Abby West, Ernest Coleman, Jacie Hicks, Heath Whitney, Jake Willis, Matthew Parker Jr., and Emily Finley. Juniors: College Planning Night will be held tonight from 5:30-7:30 in the DCHS Commons. This event will inform students and their families of the steps they can take over the summer to jumpstart the college going process. Spanish Club will have a mandatory meeting after school today in room 1018. For any questions, please contact Mrs. Martinez: LuciaMartinez@dcchoctaws.net The Lady Choctaws Basketball will host the Cordova Lady Wolves in the first round of the regional tournament at Dyer County High School on Friday, February 22nd at 6:00pm. The Boys Basketball Team will host the Cordova High School Wolves at Dyer County High School for the first round of the regional tournament on Saturday, February 23 at 7:00pm. The price of admission for both nights will be $7.00. There will be a Pep Bus available for any student who wants to go and support the basketball teams in the Regional Tournament next Monday and Tuesday. Students will need money for ticket and concession stand. The DCHS HOSA Spring Blood Drive will be held on Thursday, February 28th. Students will need to see Mrs. Flagg in room 3010 to sign up. Freshmen: The PSAT 8/9 will be given at DCHS on April 9th. Students need to pre-register in their google classroom and stop by Guidance to pick up a registration packet. Deadline to register and pay the $11 test fee is March 1st. Juniors: There will be an ACT Boot Camp on Thursday, March 7th and Friday, March 8. You are not required to attend all sessions, but you must register for the sessions you want/need in your Class of 2020 Google Classroom by noon on March 5th. Become a Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard and be trained in Lifeguarding, First aid, CPR, and AED. All participants must be 15 years or older and must pass a pretest, which includes a 300-yard swim, a timed 10lb weight test, and 2 minute tread using only your legs. The cost of this class is $210 and the certification is valid for 2 years. Space is limited to 10 individuals per class. All registration and questions must be done by contacting Shelley Stout at (731) 881-7718 or sstout@utm.edu. Seniors: The local scholarships are now available in the Guidance Office for you to pick up at your convenience. Please stop by to pick up applications and check for deadlines. They are also available in your google classroom as well. A reminder that the PBIS store is open in the library on Monday and Wednesday mornings and afternoons. Download the PBIS Student Rewards App to check your point balance and store inventory. This is for seniors with a composite ACT score of a 29, 3.5 GPA, and planning to attend a Tennessee post-secondary institution. Please make sure to fill out google classroom assignment to let Mrs. Jennifer Ray know to send your transcripts! No school Monday, February 18th in observance of Presidents Day. Daily Announcements February 13, 2019 The Creative Writing Club will have a mandatory meeting today after school. HOSA State competitors will meet immediately after school if they were unable to attend the meeting at break today. Any junior who would like to be on the Prom Committee can sign up using the Google Form in the Class of 2020 Google Classroom. The first meeting will be Wednesday, February 20th from 3-4pm. The winner will be chosen on the morning of February 14th. The winner will need to read a short story or poem that they have wrote in order to claim their prize.
